Biography

Caroline Selia is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she also completed her B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her M.M. degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she was a member of the Knoxville Opera Studio Apprenticeship Program. Based in New York City, she is a singer & actress that likes to smear the edges of new, contemporary music and is well known for her high musicality skills. She often cast in readings of new musicals, such as playing Claire in Class: a New Musical  by Karl Michael Johnson & Alex Beech and Elsa in A Bump in the Road by Michael von der Nahmer & Emily Roller where she was directed by both Tony nominee Jerry Dixon & Nick Corely. She also premiered the lead female role in Wednesday Before Last written by Kristin Hevner, Daniel Wyatt, and Royce Vavrek and then later that year premiered the role of Jane in One Hot Kitchen by Kristin Hevner Wyatt, Daniel Wyatt, & David Caudle produced by The Medicine Show Theatre, NYC. Caroline has also done several readings with Musical Theatre Factory located in Times Square, presenting bold new works where a panel of directors, casting directors, composers and audience members can give feedback to both performers and show creators.


As a musical theatre actress, Ms. Selia can be heard on the recording of the original musical Show People by James Rubio & David Caudle based off the Actor's Equity Union. Ms. Selia has been seen belting it out at the charity benefit concert Singin' in the Shower with American Idol finalist and B'way veteran Diana DeGarmo and hosted by Jim Carouso Broadway at Birdland Jazz Club in NYC. She also starred in the Off-Broadway musical Lighthouse: A Romantic Musical Adventure as Lucinda, The Widow at The Shell Theatre on West 43rd St. which ran for over six weeks to sold out houses!

Ms. Selia has also filmed several television spots including a memorable role as herself on 
Country Music Television's (CMT) Redneck Rehab in episode 104 with the Cardin Family. She recently filmed scenes for the web series, Dog Park produced by Rowman Productions as guest character Eileen being released this November. She can also be seen as a singing neighbor in the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Also as a dedicated member of the artistic community, created the Musaic Concert Series to feature talented musicians and performers to cross genres from rock n' roll, musical theatre, opera, and pop/jazz for one night only concerts. All concert proceeds have been donated to the following charities: T.W.O.L.A. & M.O.V.E. Organization.

 

When Ms. Selia is not performing, she is breaking ground with her new start up company Polish Your Passion which she is both

Co Founder & CEO. Polish Your Passion is an online training platform in which performers are connected to NYC professionals through a state of the art video coaching service for an affordable price. She also serves, as the Music Director, to the non-profit organization, Statement Arts program, which is dedicated to bringing the creative visual and performing arts to underserved and/or low-income students in the Greater New York Area. 

 

She appeared in the Knoxville Opera's world-renowned Rossini

Festival as Alida Slade in Robert Ward's Roman Fever to acclaimed

reviews: "Roman Fever" is basically a restrained cat fight. As the

conniving mother Alida Slade, Caroline Selia was beyond excellent."

(News Sentinal) along with making her professional debut as the

Second Lady in The Magic Flute with Knoxville Opera. Her favorite

opera roles to date include, Susannah in Susannah, Roselinda in 

Die Fledermaus, and Liu in Turandot.

 

Favorite musical theatre and theatre productions credits include 

Irene in Crazy For You, Liat in South Pacific,  and Dana in Smile.

 

After recording the featured vocals on the dance/electronica song

"Waiting for Me" by DJ Eddie Essa, Ms. Selia is continuing to work

on several more musical collaborations with an EP due out next year.

 

Ms. Selia is currently represented by Marius Bargielski of the Metropolis Artists Agency, Inc. in the Theatre, Film/Television, & Commercial Divisions.
